K'Arid

Humans call them turtles because of the similarity in design and color between their shells and those of turtles found on Earth. Usually brown, green, or a mix of the two small shells cover the greater majority of their bodies. Even their eyes can be retracted to hide behind this tough armor plating. Unlike their namesakes they do stand upright on two thick legs and have two arms ending in a four fingered hand with claws. Having evolved on a world inundated with heavy metals and with a high gravity their shells can withstand truly scary amounts of damage, up to sustaining a hit from a shipbased plasma cannon in the extreme. Most shells only reach the level of stopping a generic projectile or energy rifle. In addition to this advantage they also have very sharp claws. With a strength equivalent of titanium, these claws provide a fearsome weapon in hand to hand combat.

Thankfully for the rest of the galaxy the K’Arid have interests as diverse as any other race and do not focus their attentions solely to the pursuit of conquering the universe. Masters of the Interstellar drive they are the one’s to talk to if you want to venture away from the Homogeny’s Stargate network.

With the use of their interstellar drive they can be found in most starsystems. Only the Homogeny are more numerous and farflung given their ability to freely use the stargate network, while the other races have to pay.
